Background

Overview
-
The Project
I re-designed the website by unifying the site architecture with a focus on simplifying services and offerings with the constraints of a template website.
Improving the UX through a new navigation menu to make it easier for users to book services.
-
Research Goals
Find out how users choose a service provider.

Research Findings
-
Access
Users prefer to:
Book services online as a time saving measure
Expect an easy, consistent, minimal process
Assume higher price point means higher quality
Dislike excessive steps, questions, copy, or technical issues.
-
Competition
Competitive Analysis shows:
Other brands perform at a higher price point for services.
All competitors use the same booking system
-
User Research
Even if a service provider is recommended, users will do their own research using social media, Google, and Yelp.
The biggest defining factor as to whether or not someone books a service is by how they feel about the website and social media of the provider.
Organizing content through wireframing
The company has an established brand and website, the plan was to focus on how content and visual components should be prioritized within the site architecture.
A new visual design system
I designed templates for the landing, services, and specific services page so that the architecture of the site remains cohesive as the business grows and wants to add more products and services in the future.
Telling the users story through low fidelity prototypes
User testing from the beginning to tell the user story actively and effectively.
UX Principles
-
Usability
Create an easy process for users to explore, research, and choose services and then to book them.
-
Context
Research findings for this project showed that most people book services online from a mobile device. However the client’s needs were to focus on a new desktop design, the UI structure made for a cohesive experience throughout multiple devices
I made a note of topics to come back to for the client if they wished to iterate and add new features in the future.
-
Less is More
Emphasizing simplicity, removing a lot of clutter from the initial site as well as using simple universal language.
After several wireframe iterations focusing on feedback from usability testing and affinity map creation the final iterations were in place to present the final product.
Ritual Haus Visual Identity
